Think about it.You can't think about the voices of the non-voter.
They could have voted if they wanted to, but chose not to vote.
Every election is this way.
Did you not know this or are you speaking on behalf of the non-voters?
You don't mean the ***er?Think about it.
251Strong; new member (today); jargon seem familiar?
Don't waste your time.
Oh yeah I forgot we are all using our real names here...
When you first started to get involved. Why did you do it?"Names" being the operable term.
I only have one "real name", and have only ever had one user name.
I guess desperate times, call for desperate measures.
If only Hoffa and Hall had tried to "reinvent themselves" sometime during the last 17 years?
When you first started to get involved. Why did you do it?
Your local union.Involved in what?
Personal loss opened my eyes to glaring insufficiency and peaked my interest in our collective bargaining agreement.Your local union.
I just did it because an old guy took me under his wing. That and I was always the guy that liked to fight the bully. Oh yea I wanted to help the members in my local. It's always been about the members for me. I go above and beyond for my members. They tell me sometimes and it's nice to hear I have to admit. I'm a union dork. My close friends think I'm ocd about my local. I did this because an old man took me under his wing. He's since died. His name was Steve. He was a little tough man. Anything I do I know he would be proud. Him being proud of me and knowing that I have MY members drives me. When I'm done I will know I helped my members and Steve is proud of me. I help members.Personal loss opened my eyes to glaring insufficiency and peaked my interest in our collective bargaining agreement.
From there, my big mouth led to peer pressure when the shop steward position was vacated.
The rest is history, as I have been the elected steward for about 180 drivers for 10+ years.
Yet somehow, though this whole transformation, I was never tempted to change my name or assume an alter-ego?

Keep fighting the bully.I just did it because an old guy took me under his wing. That and I was always the guy that liked to fight the bully. Oh yea I wanted to help the members in my local. If you want to hit derail disagree or whatever I don't care. It's just a message board. I just wanted to talk about why we got involved. I just wanted it to be known that the members of my local are very dear to me. I just wanted it to be known that I would do anything I can for them. I wanted it to be known that an old man saw this in me and pushed me to do it because he knew I wanted to help members and I'd do anything I can to fight against the brown machine to help my members. Everything I to is for my members. If you want to make any kind of difference you have to take care of the members in your local first. They in turn support you to help them for longer periods of time. I'd go to war for my members. I have and I will. I want to help my members and it shows. That's a great and familiar story,
I continue to be the steward, because I am also able to help my brothers and sisters.
What I don't understand is what this has to do with changing, deleting and assuming multiple screen names on this site?
Wasn't that where the conversation had gone?
Do I need to go back and rate your recent posts as "derail"?
By a few cranks, you wouldn't be referring to the gang, would you?The reason why we are union people is because we want to help our fellow workers. Don't be confused by the rhetoric on this thread about local 251. There were a lot of supporters of the old regime that stayed the course with the new regime because they care about the members. And guess what: they're still helping their fellow workers. Aside from a select few cranks who quit on the members, tdu and non-tdu Teamsters are fighting the good fight here in 251, and it's all about the members.
