How will “8.6%” inflation affect Brown?

What would you propose happened to the money you’ve already invested by way of pension credit?
I would say do a direct transfer into our 401K. Make the amount proportional to years of service. After that have a 401K match equal to the amount the company would have contributed the pension.

I’m sure Legally impossible, as well as orphaning people already retirees.

Good point about the retirees. I’m sure there is a way to make sure they get their fair share after all those years. Maybe there is viable option other than what I described.

My whole thing is that the pension is not enough, especially under the Central States. All these lazy drivers who take layoffs and work 2 days a week will one day draw from the pension (if it’s still there) while they did not contribute their fair share by showing up to work.

The pensions are failing and had to be bailed out by the government. We’re about to ask for more money in pension payouts for retirees without stopping the bleeding first. And it’s all with the mindset of the the company can afford it, and the government will bail us out again if it fails. Free money.

This is flawed thinking and being a bad neighbor to the rest of the people in this country who just paid for us to retire.

You need a little bit of both
Unfortunately most people have very little clue when it comes to investing
If UPS paid me instead of paying a pension fund, I could get far better return on that money. It’s the same argument for socialism, that most people are too stupid to make decisions for themselves, so we need an educated elite class to make decisions for us. We don’t.

That ship has sailed way before our time

Probably not. At the very least I would like to see our pensions run better and see better language regarding how money is contributed.
Well the multi funded pension killed us

Back in the day UPS was paying less than everyone else when the trucking industry was going strong.
Now many of them companies are gone and we are paying a lot more than existing companies that are in the plan

UnionStrong

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

Deregulation of the trucking industry killed union jobs too. RTW scab states also.
