Is Seattle as bad?Just look at the wonders that's done to San Fran. Tons of rich tech folk moving in and driving housing costs through the roof. What's not to love?

No idea, just saying there could be unintended consequences. Is Seattle as bad?
Can't have some 50,000 high paying jobs corrupting our fair city. Harrumph, harrumph.
San Francisco, San Jose, and the Silicon Valley in between really embraced the tech industries. No idea, just saying there could be unintended consequences.
That's fair. The evil corporation dialogue from some isn't.There are legitimate arguments against being chosen. Everyone wants it, regardless of their ability to support such an operation. Some want it just to have it. Others think that it's going to rain money and happiness upon their cities. I can see not wanting it, though the tax incentives and so forth would be at the bottom of the list, if on the list at all.
If a city has to give massive concessions and spending money on infrastructure upgrades tax concessions permit cost concessions etc etc all expenses that Amazon won't have to pay for then who will have to pay for them? It will be payed for by the residents of the city including those who have lived there all their lives but will not be given employment. Is that being fair to them? There has been open demonstrations in SF about the exploding cost of housing to the point that it's beyond the means of the average San Franciscan .Just look at the wonders that's done to San Fran. Tons of rich tech folk moving in and driving housing costs through the roof. What's not to love?
Since we have determined you could not have possibly bought Amazon stock for the price you said, do you want this opportunity retract that untruth? You're getting off topic again. Let me remind you the topic for discussion is the eventual location of HQ2 , why Charlotte which was considered by quite a few as a sure bet was dropped and given the huge concessions package they want would it be a fair trade off? In the interest of full disclosure my hope would be that if it's going to be a fair trade a city in the Mid-Atlantic region or New England would win and yes I bought shares of AMZN in October at 745
It's on its way. There is currently a housing shortage in and around Seattle. House Prices have been steadily climbing. Is Seattle as bad?
If Joe Blow goes to work for Amazon or Apple, and earns $100-200K per year, what do you think happens to his paycheck?? It doesn't disappear, it goes into the local economy, and creates additional, albeit lower-paying, jobs. And in the midst of a home price explosion where are those people with the lower paying jobs supposed to live? Tent City or the YMCA?If Joe Blow goes to work for Amazon or Apple, and earns $100-200K per year, what do you think happens to his paycheck?? I don't think LA would be willing to give so many concessions. But I could be wrong. When you look at the laundry list of concessions and publicly funded amenities they want you might better off it they didn't come.
Why should I? Nothing you say has been deemed trustworthy or believable. But, I will walk this one back. I should of looked this one up beforehand. Altria not Amazon was bought in October. Amazon was bought in January BUT what I won't walk back is that 73% gain in just one year. Now here's the difference between you and me. You have kids and an spouse to think about so you have to approach retirement investment more cautiously . I on the other have neither and it doesn't cost me much to live so I can be more aggressive than you. As a result my goal is not to have to draw income from my portfolio until 2021. In the meantime I'll try to grow the principal as much as possible and hopefully by that time the return from fixed income instruments will improve.Since we have determined you could not have possibly bought Amazon stock for the price you said, do you want this opportunity retract that untruth?
Nice try. Too bad Amazon was not selling for $745 in January either. You just proved once again that you lied. I caught you in a lie, you backtracked and told another lie. BummerWhy should I? This is Murica, nobody cares about the poor or exploding home prices. Just ask the folks in the oil fracking boom towns. It's the Murican way.And in the midst of a home price explosion where are those people with the lower paying jobs supposed to live? Tent City or the YMCA?
Just exactly what is your obsession with my stock trading? I'm quite certain that we would all gladly recognize your well funded retirement account and if it will make you feel better will state for the record that it is larger than mine or any of us for that matter regardless of whether or not that may be the case if that's what it takes to ease your paranoia, insecurities and psychosis. But what I won't do is to dig back through all of those hundreds of pages of trading activity just to find the one single trade that you question. Why? Because what does that one single trade and you have in common? Both are completely irrelevant.Nice try. Too bad Amazon was not selling for $745 in January either. Where are they living now in California? Alaska? Hawaii? New York? Colorado? And in the midst of a home price explosion where are those people with the lower paying jobs supposed to live? Tent City or the YMCA?

Because it proves you are a liar and full of it. You BRAGGED about your investments and mentioned that you bought Amazon at $745 in October. Just wanting everyone to think you were this great investor. When I told you Amazon was never selling for $745 in October, you backtracked and said you actually bought Amazon in January for $745. Once again, that was a LIE. Amazon was NEVER selling for $745 in January either.Just exactly what is your obsession with my stock trading? Minneapolis, Minnesota was taken off the list too. I can't believe they don't want to come here and freeze their asses off.
Cool, sign me up.They're still living in all those places, but commuting further and working 2+ jobs to stay afloat. And many of them are relegated to having roommates just to afford rent.
