Hurricane Matthew!!

You are wrong and pretty much every tropical forecaster disagrees.
More damaging than Katrina? Possible but very unlikely. We have many homes up here built in the 1700's and 1800's still in nice condition. No catastrophic weather events in modern recorded history. New England is fortunate not get devastating storms. Cat 2 hurricanes is about the biggest.

Wrong about what?
1938 is modern recorded history since records have been official for over a century. Its unanimous that another major will devastate our area eventually. With the obscene amount of growth along the shoreline since then, it will be extremely costly and many areas won't have power for months. Its all about infrastructure and terrain, along with complacency.

True, I had forgotten how bad that one was. I live right on the MA coast and a majority of the homes are older than that. Hard to imagine that all these homes were under water.

Thing is though, is it not stating the obvious that a major hurricane will someday occur again in New England? It's not if but when. Just as California will have another devastating earthquake and Kansas another tornado.

What's aggravating though is the idea of forecasters being able to predict storms likely occurring years out or saying we get hurricanes because of "climate change". Yes, there's wackos saying that. Even when a storm is happening, they don't know where it is going to track the next day. That's why it's so ludicrous to believe their climate predictions 50 or 100 years from now.

Not true. 1635, 1815, 1938, 1954 all had major landfalls in NE. In fact 1938 was the worst disaster in US history up to that point surpassing Galveston 1900 and the S.friend fires. The landfall was so intense it set if seismographs in Alaska
. Everything about this post is wrong... Do your research... wtf
