My real life vocabulary has been known to extend into our censored word list. There's nothing quite so satisfying as spitting out a sizzling friend-bomb after getting cut off by some kid zooming around in a souped up tin can.
The difference between that type of spontaneous verbal venting and posting on a public internet forum is that here it is likely that my words will be read by a couple of hundred people of varying sensibilities and life experience. When I'm cursing in my car it's only witnessed by me and anyone else that is unfortunate enough to be in the car with me. If I were a pilot of a plane with several hundred people onboard and found myself similarly frustrated I still might curse under my breath, but I wouldn't pick up the microphone and vent my frustration by dropping friend-bombs over the public address system.
Choosing words to post on a public internet forum requires a different type of vocabulary than your everyday life, out of respect for the diversity of the potential audience. Although you may be typing at home alone in your kitchen your words may be read by a diverse collection of several hundred people. I don't think that most of you would choose to use the language that we censor here if you were speaking in a public place, face to face with several hundred people from all walks of life.
Part of starting and maintaining a public forum involves making choices about
all of the content. Language isn't the only thing that has to be considered here. Over the years I've removed posts about joining the North American Man Boy Love Association, pornographic photos, spam, overlabeling directions...
I have never removed or edited a post because I didn't agree with the opinion that it expressed. I have edited hundreds of posts because they contain immoral, illegal, unethical or vulgar content or language. There are hundreds of forums on the internet where they don't prohibit any of those things so if you find this one too restrictive I'm sure you can easily find another one that you'll like much better.
