Birthright citizenship is a constitutional right protected by the 14th amendment.
If I was an illegal immigrant parent from a drug war torn country, facing deportation, I would choose to leave my child in the US under the care of the state.
Are you suggesting the government care for all these children? Do you really think they would take their legal US citizen children out of the country?

You seem to think the alternative is a law that deports all undocumented immigrants. Neither political party is going to pass such a law, nor is it even logistically possible to deport millions of people.

Every argument against immigration the right proposes ends up being about the entitlement system. If that's the problem, fight against those programs, and leave immigration issues out of it.

I realize this isn't related to immigration, but it kind of is. If more immigrants stayed in their countries and fought the corruption and violence then the issue of illegal immigration might not be so urgent. It's easy for them to come here and protest our government and policies. Stay home. Clean up YOUR country.

Has no one ever told you what assuming can do? I think immigration can be a wonderful thing. I have friends from South and Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean, different countries in Africa, India, Europe. I would welcome all of them into my home and give them the shirt off my back, if they needed it. Difference is, they are all here LEGALLY (well, except a friend from Mexico). They would be horrified at the idea of getting government handouts, much less DEMANDING them. My child's big group of awesome friends is like a mini United Nations. Most children of LEGAL immigrants and a few immigrants also.

So see, my issue isn't with immigration. My issue is with illegal immigration and their demands and drain on our society.

Which Obama will veto if it doesn't grant status to illegal aliens. With Harry Reid gone next year bills will start getting to Obama's desk and he can get blamed for being an obstructionist instead of his flunkies Reid and Pelosi.
