Impeachment Trial of The Don

One thing the Republicans clearly need to do is to not allow Alan Dershowitz back to the podium again after claiming earlier today that a president's manipulation of US foreign policy in a manner designed to improve his reelection chances is not impeachable. Yes he will in the end be acquitted despite Mr. Dershowitz while aspiring future presidents are right now stacking warehouses full of history and precedent that will allow them to tell Congress to go pound salt anytime it calls into question what that person did while sitting on the American throne.... formerly the White House which was the home of America's first monarch.....King Donald I .

This sums up the House's position quite clearly;

Adam Schiff Tells Senate: You Cannot Simply ‘Rely on What Was Investigated in the House’

Lead House impeachment manager Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) tried to convince the Senate on Wednesday that it had to subpoena more witnesses and documents because it could not “rely on what was investigated in the House.”

Schiff’s odd argument appeared to admit that the House investigation was insufficient, even as fellow House impeachment manager Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) claimed that the impeachment case had already been “proven beyond any doubt at all.”

Yeah, he's a scholar of constitutional law. He began teaching at Harvard when he was 28, the youngest tenured professor in Harvard's history.....

What is not ok if it is legal? I remember now...winning the presidency by the electoral college and not the popular vote in 2016.
But, but, Bacha is a road scholar!

@Box Ox

So what does your independent leaning self say? Can the president use his belief that his re-election is in the national interest and a rationale to employ foreign assistance in his re-election?

It seems that would fall short of reasonable.

If some one wants to investigate the Bidens , then the Senate should have a committee do it after the trial is over. They would have every legal right to do so.
The Senate could have done that years ago. Nobody seemed to see an issue with it.

Trump did it and he was wrong. I’ll probably never agree with he and his supporters on it.

But House Democrats should have built a stronger case before handing the keys over to Mitch and the Senate instead of going for the easier election year hanging of the impeachment albatross around Trump’s neck. Not a good look.

Pelosi repeating “Well he’ll always be an impeached President” in TV interviews probably won’t be enough to beat back the victory shouts coming from Trump’s side through November.

Would this whole thing make me decide to vote for a Sanders/Klobuchar ticket? Probably not.

What about a Biden or Bloomberg candidacy?

And it’s morphed beyond to “he did it and it was wrong”. Now he did it and the senate says it’s ok and will be ok in the future.

That’s where we are now.

So is Donald still our President? I couldn't bring myself to sink low enough to watch the proceedings.
Still Trumping along.
I’ve listened to most of it as I’ve had a cold for over a week.
I only ventured out once so I’m grateful for the mind-numbing experience.
