Democrats have been investigating him since he was a political opponent in the 2016 election, before he was even president.

They are deeply corrupt investigation, Soviet style of you will.
Be honest. The IG report (the one to put all democrats behind bars) did find that even with the FISA abuse and irregularities, it was still a credible investigation.

He was answering a question...
His "answer" was a speech full of lies. Its obvious the Dems set up their questions to allow more speeches and accusations but lacking facts. Its all just a show anyway.

It was funny how Schiff tried to weasel around about why he didn't want to wait for subpoenas to go through the court system.

Sure.

Republicans are doing the same thing.

It’s theater, for whom I’m not sure.

Oh, I just meant he was answering a question, not asking.

You wrote that Schiff wasn’t ‘asking’ a real question.

I have only been watching it a few minutes at a time. I missed when the actual "question" was asked and saw Schiff giving yet another speech. The thing is almost unwatchable and just been more repetition of same talking points. I'm not sure who is the intended audience of the theater but I'm sure the viewing numbers are extremely low.

If some one wants to investigate the Bidens , then the Senate should have a committee do it after the trial is over. They would have every legal right to do so.

Ratings are at rock bottom.

That’s what the Trump team says but where are those rules coming from? Are they binding on the House or just how it’s been done in the past?
The Constitution vests the “sole Power of Impeachment” in the House of Representatives. U.S. Const. art. I, § 2, cl. 5. For precisely that reason, the House itself must authorize an impeachment inquiry, as it has done in virtually every prior impeachment investigation in our Nation’s history, including every one involving a President.

A congressional committee’s “right to exact testimony and to call for the production of documents” is limited by the “controlling charter” the committee has received from the House. United States v. Rumely, 345 U.S. 41, 44 (1953).
Yet the House, by its rules, has authorized its committees to issue subpoenas only for matters within their legislative jurisdiction. Accordingly, no committee may undertake the momentous move from legislative oversight to impeachment without a delegation by the full House of such authority. We are not the first to reach this conclusion.
This was the position of the House in the impeachments of Presidents Nixon and Clinton. In the case of President Nixon, following a preliminary inquiry, the House adopted a formal resolution as a “necessary step” to confer the “investigative powers” of the House “to their full extent” upon the Judiciary Committee. 120 Cong. Rec. 2350–51 (1974) (statement of Rep. Rodino); see H.R. Res. 803, 93d Cong. (1974).

Sort of surprised Pelosi would make that blunder, seems like an ‘unforced error’.

Don’t they have lawyers?

Oh wait, Nads to the rescue...he explained it all away!
