I'm currently expediting. I have to pick up a load by a certain time and get it delivered by a certain time. They furnish the van and the fuel. My paychecks are weekly and have ranged from $750 to $1800. And I'm on my own.
If you hate being told what to do why do you push for a system where individuality is discouraged and everything is done for the collective?
well thats where you and i disagree - im in favor of a democratic system, not one where a majority of workers are being told what to do by a small minority of owners.

Management determines what is needed and employees follow those directions. What is complicated about that? Your problem is you don't like to be told what to do, especially by those who make more than you. Having employee meetings on everything, never ceasing, while demanding the same pay as the former mgrs, would not only be inefficient but, humans being humans, you'd soon have disputes on whose idea would be implemented. Egos bruised, cliques formed. The inmates running the asylum.
If you don't like how a place is run then leave. Start your own business.

When was I against being told what to do at work? Management comes up with ideas to, they hope, make the company run better and employees implement management direction. What's the big deal? If you have a mgr who makes things worse most companies have remedies for that.
And? I'm not against following orders in the workplace. I am against government telling me in my personal life what I can and can't do. Left up to you we'll all have to live in big cities and take mass transportation. We'll no longer be able to eat meat. There won't be any reward for ambition and innovation because the government would take most of what you make.
