Is anyone following Wisconsin?

All working people should have the right to bargain colectively with their employer. Period!! The answer is not for governments to raise taxes. The answer is to stop defunding the government from working properly. Conservatives get control of government and try to make sure government doesn't work right. Because when government works right, their corporate masters are regulated more and taxed more. Governments both federal and state are running deficits because corporations like GE pay no federal taxes.
Again, these republican governors are not trying to save any $$ here. It has already been exposed how they intend to weaken, if not destroy unions in this country because they are the only entities which actually fight back against the corporate piracy that has been going on.
Furthermore, public servants do not work for elected officials. They work for we the people. And all they want is a fair and decent salary as well as a fair and decent pension and health care benefits. That is something we all should have. It should be a given in our society. Unfortunately, our government at every level is controlled by the greed-heads who make us all live with the rapacious ways of the "market" while corporate America lives on state socialism for the few!

The answer is letting the PEOPLE decide since they're one's paying for it. No one, as you continually like to point out wants unfair pay, unfair conditions or unfair benefits. We the people want it fair for everyone!:)

Go ahead, make the post office earn even less, take away thier weight limititations, too.
Maybe the postoffice then can take tons of business away from UPS, and lay some of you folks off ?

Obama "They do it all the time,:censored2: he said. "UPS and FedEx are doing just fine. ... It's the Post Office that's always having problems.:censored2: Makes you feel warm and fuzzy about the government taking care of you doesn't it......

ah,klein the USPS is thinking of letting UPS/FEDX take over some of their operations.
as a cost saving method, because they are LOSING BILLIONS. They are too top heavy with poor managers.

Yes, now they are.
But get rid of the public union.
Plenty will drive truck and deliver envelopes and small packages for $15hr or even less.

I even bet, UPS would have a line up of future drivers to work for half of what they pay now.
Gee, you have pre-loaders working for $8 !

Public servants don't work for greedy Corporations now do they? Corporations will go out of business if they're not competitive, government will just get sicker raise taxes hurting other people or just add to the out of control debt. Public employees work for elected officials who represent the PEOPLE! If public employees don't like the wages, benefits and working conditions being offered to them then they shouldn’t be public employees. They can have a fine standard of living without all of the collective bargaining. :censored2: All government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations when applied to public-personnel management. The very nature and purposes of government make it impossible for administrative officials to represent fully or to bind the employer in mutual discussions with government employee organizations. The employer is the whole people.:censored2: -FDR- A liberal president no less.

We had no debt in Wisconsin up until recently. Hard to balance a budget when all of the good jobs are sent overseas or wages are cut or corporations pocket their money instead of hiring people. A worker with a decent wage pays taxes. Can you say downward spiral for the working man.

Bush-Cheney legacy that will last generations:
Their administration more than doubled the National Debt adding $6.1 trillion.

Five million manufacturing jobs lost and 8.5 million lost during the Bush Great Recession.

2002-2007 median wages dropped while more people went into poverty.

By 2008, household wealth went down $14 trillion.
In 2006, home equity was $13 trillion; mid-2008, it was $8.8 trillion.
In 2006, retirement assets were $10.3 trillion; by mid-2008, it was $8 trillion.

Savings and investments after 2006 lost $1.2 trillion, while pension assets lost $1.3 trillion.
In 2007, state pension funds were 96 percent funded so do not blame unions.

These are real numbers. The unfettered crony capitalism as espoused by the GOP brought the world economy to it's knees and wiped out millions of families. And the bankers took taxpayer money and paid obscene bonuses for their 'success'

Now the GOP wants to continue on this path, and destroy the programs of the poorest and most vulnerable, while the fatcat defense industries, the oil companies, and the hedge fund scamsters live high on the hog.

Shame....

RE. Court Vote The count isn't over yet.......but,

It seems that for all the yelling, screaming of the liberal Democrats.....the conservatives show up when it counts.....at the polling places. Saves energy!

It's real close right now....we'll see what happens.

There is a recount coming: 200+ votes margin for Kloppenburg means there will be a recount. Turnout for this election was the highest ever for a spring court election. Prosser was supposed to win 2-1; Conservative money outnumbered Progressive money 3-2. Kloppenburg was a total unknown just 3 months ago. Scott Walker and his overreach made a slamdunk into a too close to call. Oh, and his guy lost in the Milwaukee County Executive election, too.

Guess Sarah Palin's endorsement isn't that much of a help....

According to your state's rules, just because a vote is close doesn't automatically mean recount......someone has to show a reason for a recount like voter fraud or intimidation or some wrong doing.

Yes, they can ask for a recount, and if the margin is less than 1/2 of 1 percent, which it is in this case, the state pays for the recount, not the candidate asking for the recount. And I don't think they have to assert wrongdoing....they can simply request a recount once the Accountability Board finalizes the tallies.

They said there was a record turn out for this election.....33%. Why don't I find that impressive ??

You may not find it impressive, but since the turnout for a spring election with not many statewide issues on the ballot is normally about 20%, this turnout is massive by comparison.

Hey Corporations will do whatever they have to in order to turn a profit and stay in business, this would also mean keeping the likes of you and me..uh, employed. This would include going wherever, whenever to do so. Now, if you had a company and the business environment was unfriendly in one place wouldn't you go somewhere else to keep it going?? You say Corps are sitting on Trillions and not hiring, would you hire if there was uncertainty and an anti business environment. Believe me Corps want to hire, the more they hire, the more they can grow their business and make more $ and hire more and make more$ etc.......

The republican attacks on the unions has just backfired on them with the ousting of a seated republican supreme justice. He had a 33 point lead 30 days ago and with all the attacks on the middle class citizens of Wisconsin, the people spoke out and took away the swing vote for the Govenor and his cronies in the house and state senate.

Congrats to the citizens of Wisconsin for understanding the bigger picture.

Peace.

I wouldn't hire new people with all the uncertainty.......A business needs the exact costs to plan for the future....or else they'll just stuff it under the mattress til things are clear.
