DELACROIX
In the Spirit of Honore' Daumier
Once we start organizing seriously again and maybe get some protective laws from Washington that would make it easier. Right To Work would not be such a threat to collective bargaining if the Unions were winning with their negotiations and provide a clear difference in wages and benefits. We need a level playing field to compete in the labor market, a new vision not stuck in the 50's and 60's with the business of doing business of protecting the "ins" and leaving out the"outs". A change is a coming no matter the results of this tentative, the writing is on the wall.
The results of this particular contract might turn out to be bigger than the "97" one for all the Labor Unions, not just the Teamsters. We are the largest and any chance of a work stoppage will have the Feds breathing down both parties necks, and they really do not want Trump to use it as an election issue no matter whether you support him or not. He would use that "working man card" in a heartbeat and who would blame him. Can you really imagine the scope of this event on the economy and the constant news fodder that will occur in the media, look what happen in the "97" strike, we were in the news 24/7 for 16 days. Even I was getting tired of seeing the Strike head line every news broadcast.
Three largest private sector corporations in the U.S.
Amazon....Walmart.... and United Parcel Service. Any threat of any of those businesses closing with any disastrous event would cause a immediate reaction from Washington, it would affect the national economy that much. So all those worried about a lock out or a strike calm down, I ain't going to happen, too many heads will roll if anybody makes the decision to spin that wheel and see what happens.
Things are moving along quite nicely, why rock the boat.
