They only want people to stay so long. That's debatable.
Is retention.... really the goal ? Only UPS can make this happen.
I am confused on this point.

That was back in 83. We live in a different world now. When I started I was paid $.50/hr less then a package delivery driver after 90 days with full benefits.
No problemThank you.
$37 an hour isn't anything to sneeze at.My point was that Union members are taking huge cuts in pay and benefits also. Just not the members that you started working with.
I can tell you for fact that I haven't used my phone to assist in running my route one time in the four years I've been driving.Show me a newbie, that can run a route without their phone.
Just say'n....
So was I.When I started I was paid $.50/hr less then a package delivery driver after 90 days with full benefits.
That's just plain ed up.any integrity UPS ever had left was lost during the 1997 strike.
That's just plain ed up.
You ain't got for brains.
Everything that everyone bitches about on here started with the 97 Carey strike (I won't qualify it by saying Teamsters).
Carey is the worst thing that ever happened to UPS Union employees.
Is it not the unions job to fight for them and make it more attractive as a career? They only want people to stay so long.
-Is it not the unions job to fight for them and make it more attractive as a career?
I mean Christ part time "progression" is less than they'd get with general wage increases. I mean that's just terrible negotiating if you ask me.
Or is the truth that the teamsters love getting a few years of H&W money thrown to them for an employee that'll never stick around?
Is an IQ over 50 and a good work ethic required to be management? And the one's "on the bubble" are freaking out.
They thought UPS appreciated their sacrifice and commitment.

Over 50?Is an IQ over 50 and a good work ethic required to be management?
PT as a career? Moving from PT to FT has been and continues to be the strategy those wicked Teamsters have employed successfully. Ask a room full of FT members twenty five years ago how many had PT time, about a quarter raise their hands. Ask that question now and almost all hands are up.Is it not the unions job to fight for them and make it more attractive as a career?
Pretty sure Christ wasn't on part time progression...and He wasn't too interested in GWI's.I mean Christ part time "progression" is less than they'd get with general wage increases.
Now you cracked the caper wide open super sleuth Clouseau.Or is the truth that the teamsters love getting a few years of H&W money thrown to them (?) for an employee that'll never stick around?
Oh it's true.... it's damn true!!!And I pray that our contract takes every penny from non union employees. As I stated in a different thread, it's a huge bargaining ploy. "How can you guys go on strike when there is no money blah blah blah."
I don't give an friend! I'm getting paid for my service AND the BS they put us through. Not to mention a slew of other things. We are a sales team (without having time to), we are lost prevention (without having time to), mechanics (without having time to), therapists (without having time to) and we have to fix the countless management mistakes (without having time to). I have a great idea, take the non union pension and give it to us!
And they all know that....Well the more we (teamsters) get, the more they have to take away from management.
Only the brainwashed ones... this pension freeze is the last nail in the coffin and most of these cool aid drinkers are starting to change their tune.... from here on out you will see more churn coming from the management ranks and you won't have 50 year old center and division Manager's anymore, definitely no 50 year old on car sups....they just fked all of them...you ought to read some of the comments on UPSers about the pension freeze...not very happy partners....oh well, business as usual for the union side of the businessAnd the one's "on the bubble" are freaking out.
They thought UPS appreciated their sacrifice and commitment.
Some of these mgt never had it, even before 97....any integrity UPS ever had left was lost during the 1997 strike.
You got yours out of the ups treasure box....good for you...most of these pArtners won't get 1/2 of what you got... and guess what they will be going after next for the newest "enhancement "... retirement healthcare....I bet within the next 10 years they will cut that out too...would anyone like to make a bet with me on that one???Wow settle down grandpa. Go grab a nice cold Ensure and relax with your porn.
No one listens to her much anyways.
Yes but neither is a requirement for Union employees. Is an IQ over 50 and a good work ethic required to be management?
