The major difference is biblical inerrancy.
Denominations that accept and learn from real biblical scholarship tend to move away from this flawed silly belief.

What you decided to join is a hardline evangelical cult that believes in an inerrant Bible which is undeniably false and proven wrong on so many different levels.

I don’t believe that at all.
It depends on which claims the Bible is making. A lot of them are straight up bs though and the foundation of the belief system is BS.

How can a book you say you believe is based on a fake God and a fake savior be anything other than fake and make fake claims? Doesn’t seem to make sense to me.

The reason I know a little about it, my in laws were real active in the Baptist Camp when they were alive. Somewhere in the late 80's early 90's they broke with the Southern Baptist because of the homo issue. They kept the building after some legal battles and became independent, I think. My father in law became an Elder which I had always thought the highest office was in a SBC was a deacon.

SBC usually only has 2 ordained offices - Pastor and Deacon. Some will have Elders but I think for most an Elder is just a Deacon by another name.

I am a Deacon.

FYI...Check out the biblical definition for Pastor and the qualifications in Titus and Timothy. Deacons have different qualifications. In the scripture, Pastor and Elder are the same thing. Ministers can be Pastors but the majority are not qualified to be one according to scripture.

Local churches are allowed a lot of autonomy. It is a fairly loose organization. The local churches are grouped together into associations that are the same but there can be differences between different associations. Not on issues of core beliefs though. They are divided geographically though there can be some overlap.
