What's up with the arbitration docket? I know cases from 2005 that haven't come up yet!
Yep, that is why the grievance procedure HAD to be fixed. I know recently the board worked out an agreement with UPS in which UPS withdrew over 50 terminations. Yes, the current system sucks for us and UPS abuses it to intimidate us. As for cases back to 2005, I don't know...was it a suspension over production??

Sups working! Production! What will happen with grievances like these on docket. What makes it better dealing with company weekly! Won't this make it easy to terminate?

Contract didn't change! Ups always allowed us too work until our arbitration ruling! Except theft of goods or drinking!! Explain why they changed!!

I don't see how any of this will make it easier to terminate. But an expedited process WILL make it likely that production and supervisors working grievances will be heard EARLIER. Also, our board has used the National Grievance Panel a lot over the past couple of years which has gotten lots of National grievances settled. The process will never be perfect (UPS will see to that) but making improvements from time to time is all we can ask for.

Not true. Nothing changed. Their were members on the street for "dishonesty" for putting "requested late" for some of their NDAs or for sheeting packages Not In when they actually never made an attempt, etc. All these types of case were on the docket PRIOR to Jan 1, 2010.

Are you saying that falsifying records is not "dishonest"?

But where does it end on dishonesty. Can you be fired for "dishonesty" for telling management that the weather is bad when it is really sunny?? Years back if one "flagged" packages, it was accepted and maybe there would be some minor discipline but now UPS has broadened "dishonesty" to incorporate everything and walk people out. I think it is being abused to "weed the herd" of members they don't like.

That's possible but flagging stops or soaking them enough should be a firable offense. Why soak anything?? I've never done this and members who do shouldn't.

for guys to think they can cut corners.

I pride myself on not having late airs and have often been tempted to "do the right thing" by sheeting it away from the stop but have come to realize that late air is just another cost of doing business.

Wait a minute. Didn't you once say here that you scanned an EAM in the building before you left so it wouldn't show up late? Or are saying since then you have changed your ways?

Fight the power.
Anyone who would follow the instructions and not call out the dishonest sup at the time it happens will find out the hard way the sup will deny they ever told you to be dishonest and you will be the one being fired. Never do a dishonest act even if instructed.

Oh Yeah
We had a supe who got fired along with a driver and a night time women who works in the office at 1 time for some bs. Well anyway it actually went to a court with a judge. And wouldn't you know, the district manager lied right on the stand to the judge. Talk about dishonesty, that's just unreal, but oh so believable. The supe got his job back, but if it were me I think I would have beaten the piss out of him lol.

What benefit would there have been to me whether the EAM was sheeted in the bldg so as to show as being delivered on time or waiting until I got to the delivery location? I understood why they wanted it sheeted in bldg and the customer was very happy to see me at their door, albeit 3 minutes late.

Now, if the customer had asked me why I was late. I would have apologized and then given them our local number and the sup's name.
