Lost another brother.

I can’t understand why any union brother who doesn’t actually do the job would pretend he knows anything about it.

Much more important than having air conditioning in the truck would be having reasonable dispatches please stop replying about things you do not know anything about your ignorance is astounding, never said I was arguing against it I said it was unnecessary. If you want to put them in the back of the truck and then we can talk.
100% agree with this. We need 7-8 hour dispatches in the summer. There are some guys in their 60’s out here in 110 degree weather doing this job. It seems like most of the heat related deaths are younger drivers, but still. UPS, take care of your employees…

Imagine how much business opportunities would open up by having a small reefer unit on package cars. We could ship produce or refrigerated stuff in the summer.

IMO, probably not.
I’ll explain this very simply, UPS will never be forced. There might be a contractual agreement at some point but I do not believe it is the most important thing on the table this contract so I do not believe it will even be visited this time.

I don’t want to break from this area and have to come back later but I’m out of water.
I keep a 24 pack of water in the package car all the time. I keep a tote in the very front of the 4k shelf with the hand cart in front of it. My water, backpack and other assorted things are kept in it. There's really no reason to not have extra water this time of year in the event you drink more than you thought you were going to. It's much like in the winter you always have extra stuff to keep you warm/dry... Just be smart about it.

If you come across a business with AC ask you just sit in the AC for 5 mins. Don’t even punch a break. Better to cool down before you get in trouble.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
Since you replied to me, I will explain to you that your disagreement is based on ignorance. As are most of your comments. I do the job every day it was 97° here yesterday, I was just fine in the cab. The back of the truck is what does You in. The three or four minutes my truck is on before the next stop would do me no good at all.
He’s a fool to think ac would make a difference. He’s probably sitting on his ass in an office all day.

My first stop was a bulk stop. Once I got them out of the way, I could usually walk through my PC. While I was there, I'd park out of the way and sort and set up my whole day. Not stop for stop, but close. I'd make note if there was any wind blowing and park appropriately. Open my back door and bulkhead door. Might take 10-15 minutes. I'd be soaking wet afterward. This minimized the time I spent in the back during the heat of the day. I'd take an hour at lunch and sit in AC. I brought water in a jug and had a rule. Anytime I'd walk by a water fountain, I made myself drink for at least 20 seconds. I also had a convenience store I drove by every afternoon. It had the coldest Gatorade around. I'd buy 1 or 2 bottles every day. I only remember getting sick from the heat one time. I was puking in a woman's ditch and she actually called UPS out of concern for me. Center manager came out and had to finish my route. He was pissed. oh well.
