LU 177 "selective" Seniority.

We have 4 centers in our building. Each center has its own list. Then there is feeders list also. I can't bid a route in another center. If I go to feeder I go to the bottom of the list. PT no matter how many years they have also goes to the bottom of the list.

We also bid a route and keep it till someone else retires or we wanna give it up.
Almost exactly like it's done here, except when it comes to vacations: those are bid by FT senority, regardless of your classification seniority date.

1. Half the room was not clapping or cheering when people voiced out against changing the seniority language. The members that want this changed might not have been loud out the meeting but you don't have to be loud to put in a vote.. Also you can't put no more the 200 members in meeting hall. There are 450 (and counting) members that will vote yes to this................ 2. A majority of members will put in proposals to have the seniority language changed were a employee transfers from one classification to another will carry over their full time company seniority. Then it will be addressed by the BAs and then if the BAs see this is what the majority still wants then it get's put in contract negotiations. Then it will pass.
Ok I just looked at the lm2 from your local and you said that 450 people are yes for the seniority change but there is 1 problem your local has almost 9000 members

1. We have 3500ish Ft and 4000ish Pt........ 2. We only had 800ish proposals................ 3. 988 voted yes and 143 voted no to a pension raise last contract....................... No one votes in this local!

Why stop there? Why not have full vacation seniority? Allow senior seniority the right to take all their vacation whenever they want. Take all the summer weeks for example.

That is what we got now. Everyone picks their full complement of vacations at one time. Top guys get them until the weeks are closed out. Not really a big deal.

Well. that's exactly what we have. And nobody has a problem with it. It's called SENIORITY!!

Of course. Why shouldn't a guy at the top of the seniority list take his vacation whenever he wants. Now if you were a nice
guy like me at the top of the list you would think about your fellow drivers and take only say 4 of your 6 weeks during
the summer. I always used one over the Christmas holiday and I always used one in the spring.

5 in a row would be awesome.

Try coming back to this job after 5 weeks off. It's not easy to do.
