Its nice to hear of someone winning at gambling. Just out of curiosity--what was your worst trip to Vegas? (and don't tell me you "always break even":happy2:) .

My worst trip is always when after arriving home I get a bill from the cashier's cage to pay my markers. I have 30 days. Anytime I get a bill instead of bringing home some cash is the worst scenario.

Hooray, I'm not alone !!

The subject came up while I was buying my coffee drink this morning. Young clerk..... and I asked her if she knew Chuck Berry. She said she never heard of him before. OMG, I felt like when my dad told me Ozzie Nelson was a big band leader!!

The lyrics are basically a guide to good surf locations, but the "Surfin' U.S.A." music was based on Chuck Berry's 1958 hit "Sweet Little Sixteen." The Beach Boys did it as a tribute to Berry, but didn't get his permission first - maybe because Berry was in jail for transporting a minor across state lines. When Berry threatened to sue, The Beach Boys agreed to give him most of the royalties and list him as the song's composer. The song also helped build Berry's legend while he served his time.

And that's the truth

My wife and I were playing golf in S.Fla. last Friday in 104 degree heat index. She checked the weather at home on her phone, and the heat index was 108.

Whew!

Am I the only one in the world who didn't know that Chuck Berry wrote Surfin' USA for the Beach Boys ???? :dissapointed:
Here's the scoop, More.
Chuck did not write any Beach Boy songs, the boys just plagiarized music, as all good musicians do.
Surfin' USA is notable for giving The Beach Boys their first widespread success with its title track, and for Brian Wilson's increasing prowess in songwriting, as well as vocal arrangement. The fuller-sounding vocals were achieved using double tracking, creating The Beach Boys' own unique sound. As with Surfin' Safari, some have speculated that it was not Nick Venet, the officially-listed producer, but rather Brian, who produced Surfin' USA. The title track, "Surfin' USA", credited as composed by Brian Wilson, was a note-for-note cover of Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen". A lawsuit officially granted Berry writing credit and royalties from the record.[SUP][1][/SUP] Additionally, the lyrics seem inspired by the Bobby Rydell 1959 hit "Kissin' Time" (mentions various cities across the USA), which melodically also borrows liberally from Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen."[SUP][2][/SUP]
