Memorial Day Weekend.

Monday I'm running a 5k dedicated to Memorial day (everyone registered is assigned a fallen soldier to learn about - mine is Army Staff Sergeant Ricardo Barraza).

Monday I'm doing it again, this time in honor of Navy HN Hector Fuentes who died during the Vietnam War. Unfortunately, because it was so long ago there isn't much information about him, so I'm bummed about that, but he'll be in my thoughts anyway.

Just a suggestion here, if you have a particular name you are interested in researching, try local newspapers in print at that time. Most will be archived in local or county libraries, perhaps state and college archives.

Many local newspapers are archived online now, start there.

If you are too far away, I found most libraries more that willing to look up information for you. Include a letter with pertinent information and a SASE.
