Is it the bottle or the hops? Certain beers always have that skunk brew smell, some more than others, Moosehead, Heineken, Rolling Rock for sure.
Its the bottles. Green glass allows more light penetration than brown bottles and that can make the beer skunky.

It's actually a combination of both. The light reacts with the isohumulones to create that skunky aroma.
The acceptance of this knowledge and the technology that helped bring small compact and even mobile canning lines is what helped explode the craft beer movement. The investment and upkeep/maintenance of a bottling line is very pricey, let alone the fact a canning line runs 10x faster and is ultimately doing a better job purging any oxygen out before sealing.
