Monday being Monday

I have to disagree here Upstate.....management didn't have a great plan in place for your particular area. They just shoved "your forced to work Saturday" down your throats and you all went with it.
Intimidation and great planning are totally separate buddy.
If UPS "forced" Saturday in all centers across the US I guess we would all have a lot of genius center managers all of a sudden. :)

Alright.......enough of this nonsense on here. I have to go soap my nuts and get them ready for presentation to the higher ups. Sure I'll give them another healthy offering today.

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
If I remember correctly both ourselves and FedEx were slammed in the media a few years back and guess what.......we appear to still be thriving from the looks of things.
Ok no consider fedex and the post office will be running full operations Saturday doing their best to get things off. While ups drivers sit at home whining that they shouldn't have to work.

"Brownslave".......do you personally WANT to work Saturday? Or are you working because you are being so called FORCED to work??
I mean if you don't want to and you say you are working because customers ordered stuff late, which is the case every single year. Why do you take it upon yourself to trash your Saturday and play the hero for other peoples tardiness?
Take the day off......enjoy yourself......and let them sweat it.....not your fault.

As my old union steward told me when I was a rookie many many years ago......"Don't sweat the petty things, but pet the sweaty things".

Think about yourself for a change......there's nothing wrong with that.
Saturday will soon be a normal full operations day. All of our competition delivers 6 in some cases 7 days a week. If you're ok with telling the customer to piss off and losing huge chunks of market share that's your choice.

Me I've got a few years left here and would like to see the company continue to thrive. Of course I don't want to work but I'm realistic and have seen that it'll be necessary for months now.

They could not have planned any better in my center. They put the most routes on road ever to handle the highest number of packages ever. We hired more drivers and helpers than we ever did. We worked every Saturday between BF and CE to take the edge of the following Monday and Tuesday, which worked out quite well for most drivers. Weather has not been a major issue for us.

I was a bit surprised when they told us yesterday that our air was end of day rather than 90 minutes relaxed as it has always been in past Peaks.
Having your employees work an extra day is not good planning. That's abusing your employees because you DIDNT plan well.

They realized early on that we couldn't get it done without working Saturdays.
If they hired more seasonal people they very well could have. But no...lets wait til the last minute like ALWAYS and say screw our employees and try to make them work even more than they already do...*

Good points. It mirrors what's going on in my center.

I don't know about your center but mine didn't have time to train the seasonals they hired let alone more.

We put 49 routes on road this year------that is the most by far that we have ever had during Peak.
