I know but I singled out the Portuguese slave traders as they were the primary nation state to drive the trade.
Of course, the English and Spanish were involved as well.
When it comes to the US, the Boston 'Whalers' were the primary enablers.
They never taught us in high school that 'whale hunters' was a euphemism for 'slave traders'.
