Negotiations

DELACROIX

In the Spirit of Honore' Daumier

And how many months later did retro checks go out? 2018 contract never passed. It was shoved down our throats.

Found this short video in the archives (circa 27 July 2018)…Little did we know that the fix was on…

Hoffa and his Posse already knew they were going to ratify that 2018 Contract no matter how the rank and file voted.

God.. I hope we don’t get lied to again with this one..

No it wasn't.

The members didn't participate in the strike vote. Or the contract vote.

There weren't any options left for the IBT.... as they followed the IBT Constitution.

Place the blame where it belongs.
Ehhh, not exactly.

If less than half of the eligible members cast valid
ballots, then a two-thirds (2/3) vote of those voting shall
be required to reject such final offer and to authorize a
strike. The failure of such membership to reject the final
offer and to authorize a strike as herein provided shall require the Local Union Executive Board to accept such
final offer...

...here's my favorite part....

...or such additional provisions as can be negotiated by it.

Kinda reads to me like there were options left, especially when the company said they would return to the table.

So what was the rationale for this? Ive heard it explained that if less than 2/3 rds voted than the union’s logic is everyone who didnt vote would cross the picket line…which is just idiotic..unless im misunderstanding. The people who vote are the people that matter ..the full time drivers. Pilots wouldnt cross..so there’s that. They gonna run a next day operation with non union pilots?..almost all airline pilots are union…unless they re gonna cart em all out on 10 thousand Cargo Carrier prop planes and learjets. Plumbers..electricians..builders.heck even papa johns wouldnt cross in 97 when they tried ordering scab pizza.

They’re testing him for future negotiations. If he extends it we all lose.

So you're saying that if O'Brien gets an offer he is satisfied with in the next few weeks, that he will recommend us to accept, that he will still put us on strike Aug 1st until we vote on it and they get the results?

OK.

Or maybe they might do on the spot voting at the building just like they did with the strike vote

UPS Stock up
Biden on board for no strike. He'll handle it just like the the Railroad strike. He can't afford otherwise. SOB is a small fish in the government pond. The markets always know.

It was to prevent minority-rule contracts, the idea that a few would speak for the masses. Kinda like how transgender, paraplegic, polyamorous, Asiatic-Serbian 8-10 year-olds need their own legislation in California. A few people made some :censored2: up and now everyone has to live with it.

Wait, there’s a strike boat?

Seems like there's 70 threads about this, so I guess this one will do.

Am I the only guy around here that thinks this is THE WORST time to go radio-silent by the leadership? SOB hit the news the last couple of days, but I really feel like they should be blowing this app up, 3 or 4 updates a day, even minimal news should be pumped out. We get, "UPS walks out" and then 35 :censored2:ing hours later "PT poverty doesn't work" and then 24 hours later some practice picketing bull:censored2:.

Just frustrating.

I'm done.
