Work now, Grieve later.
:censored2: I have several business stops that have typed out signs in their supply and receiving area that literally says to leave on this shelf or on this pallet if no one is there followed by a please DO NOT return packages.
I had a dental office with a sign like this. They were always on vacation and I'd have a few days a week where I could actually deliver everything. They could sign for the package that the note is for but I'm not leaving anything else.

Is writing dock even a falsification of business records? I know plenty of places that want you leave it in the warehouse or at “building 2” and literally no one is in there.

NI1, 2 and 3....

Why is this so hard for some people?

Those are the consignees, not the customers. The customer is the shipper and they deserve what they pay for.

Just do it to the letter of the methods and let management worry about the rest.

He didn't say closed, thats a different exception. The consignee is not in, as no one is there willing to receive and sign for the delivery, but its open. You have to get a real signature and doubly so if any of the packages are signature required.

In the old days drivers were taught to get the consignee used to time of day you get there (I know optimization has changed that somewhat) and have a way for you to get the signature when you got there. Train your customers. In most cases they want their stuff and if you take a few back theyll stop blowing you off.

CIR names are an issue in my center. All the Dollar General Stores we deliver to seem to have people named "DG, DG Store, and Dollar General" working there. So weird.

And allot of our drivers accept signed info notices for signature required packages by transcribing them to the DIAD. I was taught that anytime we sign for customers it is fraud and dishonesty. And that "signature required" means in person. Some drivers think that its ok every since UPS removed "in person" from the info notice instructions. I'm not taking that chance.

Hell, I've had many of times where the CIR names were Glasses, Lady, Man and even had one that said Juggs. I didn't get to meet Juggs but hopefully the driver meant the package was left next to water jugs or something.
