Yes. They work fantastic. Even the cheap ones. I definitely recommend you get one. For what you will be using it for shouldn't pay more than $25. Will work great.

Yes, not sure how it works, or installed, but yes.

That's not a controller. Those are fairly expensive.

Actually, I've gone through several inexpensive probes. The wires break, the transmitter/receiver go bad and you can't let water get into the joint between the probe and wire.

Just ordered a Maverick 732. At least replacement probes are available.
