What you don’t understand is military spending and foreign policy is what the federal government should be doing, it’s one of its enumerated powers.

This welfare stuff you are preaching is mainly handled by local food banks around here and the exsisting food stamps program.

If our government was functioning properly, the federal government wouldn’t be nearly as powerful as it is and states would be handling a lot of what the federal government has power grabbed.

War is a enumerated power of the federal government.

Common defense of the nation, congress used to be the one who had to declare war and the federal government is there to negotiate on the states behalf in foreign policy.

Not necessarily a direct democracy kind of thing, voting on individual issues.

Just overall, I think the smaller government is the easier it is to control it’s waste.

We are so hyper focused on the president when our focus should be on our state and local politicians.
