I don’t mean to wish harm or murder on the socialist we deal with in America. We are in a completely different society and circumstance.

I’m just curious how many lives this possibly saved.

The head of Japan’s socialist party(Inejiro Asanuma - Wikipedia) killed by a 17 year old ultra right nationalist.(Otoya Yamaguchi - Wikipedia)

The head of said party was close to Mao and loved communist China, also spoke about America being the shared enemy of China and Japan.

If left to his own devices and Japan becoming a communist puppet of China, where at the time millions were dying in a famine(Great Chinese Famine - Wikipedia), we might not have instant noodles, Sony, PlayStation or DVDs. Not the kind of world I’d wish to live in.

Happened in 1960.
Fine by me!
Socialists are like Opium and Heroin ... destructive to a stable society.

I remember getting some weird looks when GW Bush was president and I referred to him as a Socialist. I was doing some reading the other day on Upton Sinclair whose books I read many years back and I was reminded of my classification of GW as a Socialist.
I found this quote of Mr Sinclair very interesting, "The American People will take Socialism, but they won't take the label. I certainly proved it in the case of EPIC. Running on the Socialist ticket I got 60,000 votes, and running on the slogan to "End Poverty in California" I got 879,000. I think we simply have to recognize the fact that our enemies have succeeded in spreading the Big Lie. There is no use attacking it by a front attack, it is much better to out-flank them."
The way that Socialism will become a major force in politics (at least in the United States) is by not calling it Socialism. People believe too much that it is inherently evil, without knowing what Socialism really is.

The United States has been governed by Socialist (to varying degrees) presidents for 80 years but until Obama came along, few would admit this truth.

What do you think?

Found this post by my buddy and thought it was pretty relevant.

And people keep taking it in in spite of all the evidence you shouldn't.
please, capitalism has destroyed more than socialism. america in large parts is a deindustrialized waste land, with despair, suicide, addiction, bc we centralized the economy in corporate board rooms and they destroyed america and got rich off of it.

Even during the Great Depression when people started to become malnourished, not many died of starvation.

Americans have never known what it is like to watch their loved ones die knowing they would have to eat the body to survive. That is a uniquely communist problem.

Hunger issues in America
1 in 6 people in America face hunger. The USDA defines "food insecurity" as the lack of access, at times, to enough food for all household members. In 2011, households with children reported a significantly higher food insecurity rate than households without children: 20.6% vs. 12.2%
