It's funny, the article I posted said when you take politics out of it, most people support a new deal style program to modernize our energy infrastructure.

You saw the name of a Democrat, and proved their point. You didn't even bother reading it because you think your team is against it.

Sad.
So you don't have a viable alternative to oil?

Agree. Parties on both sides will never get anywhere with their ideas until their related goals move beyond the "aspirational" phase. Anything short of that is just political posturing.

So tell me about all the petroleum based products that we can replace without any effort? Tell me how we're going to fuel UPS trucks to move freight? How will planes fly? If there was a viable alternative to oil why haven't we replaced oil already? And why is it that the political heavyweights and movie stars who are trying to save the planet not given up their private jets? Lead by example if you want to change the world.

Oil is finite, so we should think strategically about how best to use it.

Anything that involves plastics involves petroleum, seems to me we should ration it instead of wasting it because we enjoy subsidizing Big Oil.

Just take one example, the healthcare system.

Maybe we should save some oil to make needles and IV bags and and and...

You know what?

Screw it, let’s forget about developing new technologies that could provide a template for a new economy that’s not based on oil, which would provide thousands of jobs and keep us on the cutting edge!!!! Killer plan.

Meanwhile, China is eating our lunch on solar and wind tech because somehow we just can’t get our heads out of Exxons’ intestines.

FFS, hemp might finally become legal here in the States...

(We’ve been importing billions in industrial hemp from Canada for years...their heads aren’t so far up someone else’s :censored2:...it’s ridiculous)

I think whatever works is fine. If solar and wind help, great. But the "green" goal is to completely stop the use of oil and as yet there's no viable alternative to do so.

It’s not about stopping oil, it’s about getting off the teat.

We need oil and we always will, that’s not the issue.

Are you under the impression we're running out of oil? Fracking has opened up enough supply for several hundred years. We're now the world's largest producer. Of course we should develop alternatives. But a lot more than plastics involve oil.
