Surely there’s a reasonable place between lead poisoning/suffocation and doing away with planes, cows and cars that we can all agree on.

This all cuckservatives do. Try to make fun of reality, stick their heads in the sand and offer no plan themselves. Drill baby drill!
I've always voted Democrat because of their greater commitment to science, education and the environment. But they really haven't seemed as strong on science and education lately.
Anyway, if the Party wants to further environmental causes, it really shouldn't try to do it via insane proposals. Which is why not a single Democratic senator voted for it when Cocaine Mitch said "Sure, let's give it a shot." It hurts the cause and nobody will take Democrats as seriously if/when a proper environmental protection bill or resolution does finally come around.

It was a proposal brought up to spark the conversation. Nobody on either side expected it to pass which is exactly why Turtle brought it up for a vote. It really makes him look petty and immature.

Everybody knows you don't spark a pay raise conversation with your boss by walking into his office and asking for a million dollars. Similarly, you don't spark a conversation on the environment by proposing to do away with airplanes and meat. The excuse making from the Democrats on this one is super weak sauce.
This argument from the Democrats is insane. Mitch allowed a vote on it and the Democrats
their pants over it. They probably hadn't anticipated that he would. It's absolutely great political work by Mitch. But to blame him for the situation is absolutely nutso.
