On this day, 13 March 1972, "The Merv Griffin Show" debuted in syndication for Metromedia Television.
Merv used to love having Zsa Zsa Gabor on his show. It was a fun show and Merv was a great host. He was a band singer in his younger years with Freddy Martin......had the onebig hit, "I've got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts".

He created Jeopardy and produced Wheel and both are still around. He owned The Beverly Hilton Hotel and also bought Resorts from Trump.
He was one rich & successful dude.
