Got a friend of the family who’s got a Prius creeping up on 400,000 miles! Just regular maintenance. I’ll never make fun of you again! That’s a damn good car!
Not sure I would trust Kia or Hyundai hybrids but Toyotas are just about bulletproof. The original Prius engine was a collaboration between Toyota and Ford. Obviously Toyota has really refined their hybrids over the years but the hybrid used in the Maverick is solid. Ford being Ford there has been other issues that they had to work out.

There are hybrids that date back to 2005-2009.
Lots of hybrids between 2010-2015 sketchy.

Tons of fleet hybrids being traded in... There are hybrid Malibus that were only sold as fleet vehicles. Ford C-Max hybrids all over the place... Discontinued since 2017.

Ya think?

Maverick was reimagined in late 2021, and went into production in 2022, its first available date. Long periods since then, where it wasn't even available... Buyers sat on the waiting list for months to year.

Hope you expect more than 1.5 - 3 years out of a hybrid.
The hybrid engine itself is solid. They didn't invent it 2-3 years ago. They've had other issues but I look at a Maverick forum and most of the bugs have been worked out. Ford has ramped up production in Hermosillo, Mexico. And I would much prefer Toyota comes out with a small hybrid pickup. But Ford has a van based on the Maverick in the works and that'll get my money for camping.

I really want to like Ford, but man they’re reliability. Stinks, and it doesn’t even touch Toyota reliability..

There's a great YouTube channel called "The Car Care Nut." He's a mechanic who goes over every square inch of vehicles he reviews. He really likes the hybrid Maverick drivetrain. Calls it super smooth. But he also points out numerous locations where Ford went cheap. It's a cheap vehicle trying to meet a price point. He says don't plan on it getting 200,000 miles. Would take a lot of effort to keep it going. A lot of guys want to run their pickups hard offroad. The Maverick is a city truck. Meant for pavement. Unibody construction.

Yes, I’ve seen some of his videos. Very thorough.

Since I need a truck to launch and recover my boat & other stuff from the ocean, I can never have an EV.
Sure you can have an EV. You just need to have a truck too.

I guess that makes sense to somebody.

How far are you backing in to launch & recover your boat? You might want to rethink that.
