At the hub I am working at there are a lot of rumors floating that Louisville is hurting BAD for OTR drivers. Anyone know if there is any truth to that? I didn't think UPS was hurting for OTR drivers anywhere.

Define "OTR".
Sleeper? Mileage? Regular feeder driver?
I thought everything flew out of Lousville.
Anything that can make commit in a truck, goes by truck. Way cheaper than flying.
In my building on average we send more NDA through the ground network than we do air.Anything that can make commit in a truck, goes by truck. Way cheaper than flying.
It ticks me off when the government sends packages NDA to towns 10 and 40 miles away... or even just in town. Waste of tax money. And I pay a lot of it.
Even with discounts ground is much cheaper for the exact same service. But the government folks generally do not care nor even think about it.Government contracts are deeply discounted.
Tell customers the plane takes off and lands at the same airport."But if I order something Next Day Air it is supposed to come in on a plane."
That's right. They like taxing UPS guys! $500 to $800 a week in taxes. Who wouldn't?Even with discounts ground is much cheaper for the exact same service. But the government folks generally do not care nor even think about it.
That's my family on long trips. They sleep while I drive.Over the road sleeper.
