Package Driver ticketed for not stopping at Weigh Scale Center

Never here UPS say anything about overloading a package car with pickups either right? What is the max weight?

It varies with truck size.

It is the GVWR on a sticker under the dash or above the windshield.

Problem is, you don't know the weight unless you have a truck scale somewhere on your route.

What does it say on the license plate? Truck.

The EVWR and GVWR should be on a sticker under the dash.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. You could still get cited.

and UPS should train you to follow it... Drivers aren't trained that.

the only training we get is when it happens

please cite the method!

You're a package car driver who normally works in Memphis but had deliveries in N. Mississippi? How big an area do you cover? Memphis to Mississippi is over 3 hours away

There is no method or no training. It is your responsibility as a commercial truck driver to know and understand the DOT laws/rules regarding your job.

so you possess a CDL?
I don't

I do. But let me rephrase that.

It is up to the driver of a commercial motor vehicle to know and understand the DOT laws/rules that apply to him/her.

While you may not possess a CDL, you drive a commercial motor vehicle, and you are subject to DOT regulations, if your vehicles GVWR is 10,001 lbs or more.

I think anything above a 600 or 700 has a GVWR over 10,001 pounds.

So not every driver is subject to DOT regulations, but you better know them in case you are put in a vehicle over 10,001 lbs.

And it is not up to UPS to train you. That is your responsibility.
