I get on here for help and you guys make fun of me. You're probably lazy ass drivers anyway. Too bad P/T sups don't have a union that lets us get away with being lazy like drivers do!!!

You are a hot head, you need to learn to calm down a little, then maybe you'll get promoted, they don't want a loose cannon in FT management.

Are these the same part time sups that sit in an air conditioned office for 90% of their shift?

Please tell me more about how hard you job is.

I'm having a REAL hard time understanding why you haven't been promoted ? I mean with your calm sense of stability and apparent talent for keeping steady under pressure. You obviously have some amazing skills in crisis management and your people reading abilities are definitely on par with the upper echelon of ups brass management.

I see a bright future for you as a center manager,DM or even on the board of directors. Your ability in rational thoughts and observations make us all here at brown cafe admire you.

I look forward to seeing your name on the stock reports under CEO

Good day to you sir

I'm a P/T PDS. I love the work I do and the people I work with but hate the Shady company where I'm employed. Where to start...
I started as PT PDS at a satellite center where the boss was psycho. Six weeks in I was moved to preload sup after the previous two had quit in the same year. The boss' wife owned a local "beer barn" where she employed several of my preloaders. Every time one :censored2: off the wife, my boss would take it out on employees. Without fail, he would text every Sunday, instructing me to lay off three employees ranked lowest in seniority because Monday was forecasted to have low volume. And without fail, 3-4 sups would have to work preload on Monday. I ADVISED MY PRELOADERS TO FILE A GRIEVANCE. But nobody would, even drivers, for the boss was famous for retaliation.
Another time I slipped on ice and reached out to grab a pole to avoid falling. I had so much forward progress that it tanked my shoulder, tearing my labrum. I reported to the boss and two other supervisors who failed to report it to HR. Another time I got into a shouting match with my boss to which he called the police on me.
I had finally had enough so I called HR to complain. The district HR lady and the big center mgr drove over an hour to meet with me. I had three pages of grievances on my boss but they wanted to hear none of that and kept trying to turn it around on me. They finally agreed to transfer me to a center in the city where my wife and children had already moved. They asked if I would be OK to continue working under my current boss until the transfer went through. I promised I would be the model employee. Later that afternoon HR called and told me I had two weeks vacation and just stay home until the transfer went through. I completed all necessary forms online that same afternoon. So I move and wait for the transfer to go through. They only paid my for 3 days of vacation and not the two weeks I was promised.

Fast forward three months and still no transfer. I had called or emailed HR lady on the status of my transfer once every week. She always replied, "waiting on corporate approval. So by this time I'm quite frustrated... I go to new center to explain the situation. They gave me the district HR Guy's number and said to call him... So I did. Funny thing is he could find nothing on me requesting a transfer. It just so happened that the previous HR lady called me the very next day to tell me she was terminating me because my transfer had gone through months ago and I failed to show up to new center. I replied, "that's funny because I spoke to HR yesterday and they could find no record of my transfer request. Uh uh, she said, well you better show up tomorrow or your fired.

At the new center I've been the model employee. I'm never late and I've only called in sick once, in the two years I've been here.

I'm constantly being instructed to do work meant for Union labor. The steward caught me upstairs helping DCAP get caught up and cussed me out. He went back downstairs and kept shouting below for me to leave the building to which I replied, you can't tell me what to do. Then a full time sup started to escort the steward to the boss' office. I turned around and in walking away, I muttered ":censored2:". Well he heard me and came charging upstairs. Trying to diffuse the situation, I denied that I said anything. He points his finger in my face and says, Don't ever call me an :censored2:!!! I'll KICK YOUR ASS!!!
:censored2: YOU!!! Well the boss took his side and after he left, the boss chewed my ass out. The steward was awarded almost $8000 in grievances for that one day, but yet nothing was said about the steward threatening me with physical violence.
I also reported my injury to the new boss who also failed to report it to HR.

I've applied for a full time preload sup position, at my center, four times in the past six months. Not once have they let me, nor any other other PT sups at our center, take the MRE, meaning we were never in consideration for the position. I find out from our center HR that the center mgr wants his "on road sup" buddy to have that position. So they hire 2 new on road sups, both under 22, one new hire and one who's only been with ups for 8 months.
I've received outstanding marks on my QPR the past two years and gotten significant raises each time.

I've heard that when a person is really good at their job, mgt doesn't like to promote them because it's too hard to replace them.

I'm 48 years old.
Age discrimination maybe?

I'm at my wits end. Any thoughts?
You sound like the type that walks around and thinks he is a model employee, but in fact really isn't.

A model employee doesn't swear at other employees because he's pissed.

As for the vacation, you should have entered it in PTRS like you do everyday with your timecard.

As for the working, sometimes that is what you have to do. If you laid them off again that's on you. Sack up and tell the center manager you're going to be short if that were to happen and it would open you up to grievances if you don't. You should know your staffing needs as preload supervisor.

If you were "cussed" out by the union steward you should have brought him right to the office for a meeting. Bring another steward in as a witness. Just because he's a steward doesn't mean he can do whatever he pleases.

Contrary to what you may want, just because you applied for the sup position doesn't mean you get to have it. You're not entitled to any position. If you were so good you'd already be in the position. Instead you seem to run into trouble everywhere you turn. Eventually you have to step back and look at the whole picture. You've had a problem with your old center manager, division HR, district HR, your new sup, and your new center manager. Quite a lot of people to piss off. Who do you think is going to sit there and say "Yeah, he'd be an awesome sort supervisor!"

You're not being promoted because if any of this is true (which I'm thinking we're missing a lot of important information) you're a hot head that apparently likes to get into spats with local management. UPS does move within. But you seem to have some issues all over the board.
