Peak 2016

They know the guys in our center who insist on working 8 hrs, and many of us still get most of these working holidays off including Black Friday.
This is why you 8 hour guys get these days off. It is easier for your center team to dispatch and make the commit times with more people. They're purposely trying not to work you.

We were told this morning that we can expect to work every Saturday between Black Friday and Christmas Eve, which, as it stands now, will be an air only day.
No problem.
I will report every Saturday, work the 2 or 3 DOT hours I might have left, get paid for 8, then report back every Monday with only 8 or 9 DOT hours left.

Easy money!

Saturdays will be Code 05.
Not if you did not volunteer, and want 8.
As Sober points out, the added benefit of being paid for 8 on Saturday (even if not actually working 8) is it runs you out of hours on either a 60 hr or 70 hr rule. So forcing an additional day on a 70 hour rule becomes difficult since you will need an additional 8 for a Sunday force.

What is this code 05 some people speak of?

60 hours in 7 days is 60 hours in 7 days.
We are entitled to 8 hours pay even if we only have 1 DOT hour left.
And if they make us work as helpers to get our 8 thats OK too, because that still counts as on duty hours and will simply run us out of hours that much sooner in a few days.
I work 60 a week starting right after Thanksgiving. Always have, always will.

You're right on the easy money bit you're wrong on how many hours you'll have left on Monday. You'll have more than 34 hours off before you punch in on Monday . That's enough for a restart on your DOT hours.

We haven't heard a peep about Saturdays. Except Xmas eve only.

Get my new 6300 Monday. With 1-2" snow forcasted. See how it is in snow

I am #1 seniority and was told that I should expect to work. I don't really have any plans, the work will be easy and the extra money will be nice.
I would rather get my 60 hours in 5 days, not 6.

If it ever looks like I might have enough hours available to be forced to come in on a Saturday, all I will have to do is start following ORION and by Friday night I will be safe.

I made the personal decision to follow ORION as close to 100% as possible for the last couple months. My miles have spiked along with the OT but my stop count has decreased. I figure when I'm driving, I'm not lifting and that's a good thing.

All these Saturdays you speak of will the part time preload get time and a half for coming in on Saturdays to load our trucks. Our building already has an attendance issue can't imagine these kids coming in on a Saturday if not for time and a half.

And since it is an extra sort, will it be considered extra work for everyone in the building to sign up for at OT?
