Well said, which is exactly why I said in another post that I refuse to use one every year. I told them if I am responsible for their actions then I will walk off every stop with them ......simple enough. And I haven't had one for even a minute. Just lighten my load or pay a heavy price. Haven't lightened the load enough so they are paying a heavy price. This week I have been running 4+ hours over my dispatch.....workload is laughable. Starting to feel fatigued and sick from the long days without much quality time they stress for leading that healthy lifestyle they speak of.
So I guess maybe a day off will help cure this problem. ;)

This guy is right. This is my whole personal moral vendetta against the job. Preach safety and well being, but essentially make a balanced healthy life completely impossible. Things are bad enough without being "responsible" for some hindering dummy "helper."

People have to go to school for years to learn to shave their face? You just sound like someone who wasn't able to do the job,

Uh no... Missed the point completely. Was able to do the job just fine. I just refused to eat s..t day in and day out. I admit to starting out a "gunner." Figured out quick not to do that. Slowed down and became "by book"; that earned me harassment, no lightened load, no life, no energy, no sanity anyway. I did the job excellently no accidents no injuries. Period. I just wisened up before it got too late. Did the job fine, just hated it. Behind the facade of our high wages and benefits lies a hypocritical, unsafe, bullying culture similar to the military. Chew em up, spit em out, hope you live a few years beyond retiring. I'd say bah humbug but I'm actually relaxed and healthy for once this time of year.

I wish happy holidays to all. No ill will, I feel only pity for those who would attack me because the blinders are on. I'm just trying to open some eyes and make people think. If anyone truly enjoys this career I wish all the best. I guess someone has to.

Not to change the subject but........ to the driver who left me the open soda bottle with the mystery yellow liquid in the tote with the NDA letters; Merry Christmas you filthy animal! LOL

Deplorable.
We are not paid, nor trained on how to manage a helper. If I have to watch every step the helper takes, then there is zero benefit to having a helper speed wise. Might save my legs, but won't save me time.

They crack me up with the "driver is responsible for their helper". Train me and pay me to manage. Other wise i will do what I do and use the helper in a way that will help get me cleaned up. Not a babysitter,

Agree. I haven't had a helper since 2014 myself but I assumed no responsibility for them and told my management team the same. I've never received a perfect OJS in all my years, therefore I am the last person you'd want training someone.

We are talking for the most part about unemployable people with little to no self responsibility.

Well you might have a point. Today I'm pretty sure my helper burned one in her car right before I picked her up. Stunk like pot. Had to do a few "not that house, the one directly next to the truck that I pointed at". Don't worry I'll walk off this one a little ways down that might require brainpower to locate an address and common sense DR location...

I agree with those safety sheets but it is still our responsibility to remind them to cross behind the car and to use the hand rail.
Nope.
They are grown adults.
They have been trained by their supervisor.

Do you also feel it is your responsibility to remind a fellow driver to follow the safety rules?

130 stops on my 6000 shelf. That's the kind of day it was. I mean how does that happen.
That happened to me...sup came up to me all
Proud and said "should have an easy day. We pulled your 7 and 8 shelves. We'll shuttle it to you later" I walked up to my truck and they have that chart with packages per shelf...297 pieces on my 6000 shelf...I almost cried

Very well spoken. Can't add much more as that's clear and to the point.
