Possible driver death due to heat

Shouldn't it be possible to file a mass grievance against ORION for this reason?
A bad ORION solution is not much different than a bad load on RDO. We've always have had to at times dig through to find a package. You just gotta figure out how to search and line up stops simultaneously. I don't spend any more time in the back now than I did a couple of years ago before ORION. Sometimes however, it takes longer to run the route if I follow a bad solution.

How much longer can we remain competitive given the huge difference in our labor costs and the shift in public sentiment toward savings over service?

Ground has proven that the job can be adequately performed at 1/3 of the wage.
How about if you get the ball rolling and tell your boss you'd like them to keep 1/3 of your check from now on

So after reading or browsing thru 15 pages of posts the conclusion its UPS's fault.

1) Its Orion's fault
2) Its the trucks fault because its hot in the back
3) Its UPS fault cause its UPS fault
4) Its management's fault cause they sit in the office while its hot out...
5) Its UPS fault because they won't let us drink in the cab while driving
6) Its UPS fault because its hot out and they make us work outside..all day!

Not one of you has posted anything that is fact and I could care less if you post the "facts" , I know that I feel compassion for the family that lost a wife, mother, daughter, and aunt. I would not one of you or yours to lose your life while at work regardless if I am union or union free, I would hope you feel the same.

I didn't blame anyone. At the sametime weather conditions and age do need to be considered.

Like I said in another thread.....if OSHA probed the back of the truck, things would change.

Very sad to hear this news.

THERE IS NO EFFIN REASON FOR PALTRY VENTILATION IN THE PACKAGE CARS, MAINLY THE CARGO ARRA.

NONE.

SHAME ON YOU UPS.

What we have to ventilate the rear area is a hole the size of a golf ball, for up to 1200 cubic feet.

It can be done with keeping the area dry...they just won't do it.
Blaming

The Ground driver who I see most during the day does a very good job. He is on road when I am driving to work and still out on my way home. We deliver many of the same stops and the customers all like him; in fact, some prefer him over me as he takes the time to chat while I drop and go. He would be an average UPS driver.
easy to chat when you have 50 stops instead of the 150 I make everyday

It's your fault.

Cool solutions my ass!
How about that! Wear light loose fitting cotton clothes.=OK can't do that. Stay out of the sun and don't over exert yourself= no can't do that. Drink plenty of water= no can't do that, might be stealing time.

How about getting us out of the building on time?= no can't do that. PPH.
Maybe put. Route in? = no the shareholders won't like.

Safety my :censored2:ing ass!

Not sure about the "man up" ... more like "Big Horn Sheeping it" aka butting heads.
The position I'm in in my local puts me in an advantage to man up. I've gone through some stuff at ups that the typical member of management just doesn't want to deal with. My local is always right there to get my back. Let just say I've been the 6foot3 230 pound little brother to some people that they never had. That coupled with my thinking outside the box and you and my got no sheep with me. I'm a ram. You want to mess with the bull you gonna get the horns has been said about me a lot. Believe it or not there are some of your partners that are no longer with the firm that played games. And my references do check out unfortunately.

That's fine. But I am sick and tired of the phony safety crap. I truly am.
.
Maybe if she got out of the building 20 minutes early and had 5 less stops. She might be alive.

But what do I know? Only worked here my entire adult life.
Objection your Horner!
This is conjecture.

She could have have 10 less stops and 30 minutes and the same results.

just saying
