Preparing For What Might Be Next

As it turns out the hospital financial department just told me due to my income and not living with my wife since mid 2020(so they aren't including her income), there's a good chance that the bill can be completely written off. And you should understand something. Due to so many now being diabetic and so many with heart disease it's very difficult to get disability for having either unless you're truly disabled. Seriously disabled. My neuropathy has progressed to the point I can't stand for hours or climb ladders, etc so might now get it but most likely would have to jump through hoops for a year or more to get disability. If I do at all. And $600,000? On what planet?
Sure, and who will it be "write it off" onto ? In all likelihood.....Medicaid . It's obvious or they wouldn't have been seeking personal income information to see if you qualify Do you really think that hospital chain will just take your bill and simply eat it and smile? If they did that for everyone how long do you think it would remain open? Before they fall back onto their own limited CHARITY reserves they will seek every other private and public funding source they can think of and ask them to pay your bill for you. And among the first sources of reimbursement they will seek will be Medicaid. Imagine the SOL you would be in if those evil communist sympathizing pinko Democrats had not created and passed this program or the hospital had decided not to accept Medicaid assignment and remained private. As for 600K spend a few days in ICU undergoing a coronary procedure and let's just hope you never see the billed charges or you might just have another heart attack.

Under the Social Security "blue book" the objective is to determine a person's "suitability for work" . What kind of work you're deemed suitable for for is not the objective. It is simply to determine based on the medical facts surrounding your individual person if you can still work. Therefore it's up to those deemed qualified not you to decide if you're "suitable for work" . You obviously have the 5 month waiting period in and if you have a record of consecutive years of reported earnings going back many years combined with your age and health your chances of getting SSD are pretty good.

Extra cash? Gold? Silver?
If they don’t pay the guy the same thing that’s in your pocket to bring it to the store, its not going to be there to buy no matter what you have.
If the system breaks, it goes a little further than our own little world.
Once upon a time believe it or not paychecks were issued on paper. It might just come down to that again if the system was down.

What part of judgment proof do you not understand?
Debtors prison does not exist in the United States.

You frost my ass at times.

You're willing to give the entire country to an illegal invader or anyone that believes as you pertaining to politics yet a citizen with a different set of beliefs or philosophy is thrown to the dogs.

You sir are a picture of the petty, vengeful, spiteful left.
My opinion.

The man had his money confiscated for his working lifetime for a social program and when he makes a rightful claim you piss on him.

For one reason, only one..... he doesn't believe like you.

It's my belief you enjoy hardluck or hard times of those that don't march to your beat and that is sick.

I'd bet there are many here that would offer their help to Van.
Hell, they might even offer it to you.

I've vented.
Have a nice day :thumbup1: .
Next time tell us how you really feel!

If I had insurance someone would pay for it. If I had Medicare someone would pay for it. So yeah, they're going to get the best deal possible rather than take my little bit every month.

I've obviously looked into disability much more than you. Most people are initially denied. Usually takes a lawyer and a lot of hoops to jump through and a good deal of time, as in one to two years. Takes medical records. Which means insurance and a lot of doctor's visits for documentation. I never said it was up to me whether what I have qualifies or not. Look it up. Diabetes and/or heart disease doesn't automatically qualify you for disability. If it did the system would've bankrupted long ago. It takes a progression of the disease to a point they deem you can't do the work you normally do and may not be suited for other kinds of work. Plenty of people with both conditions take meds and work. Those that get it right away almost always have limited time left. Too ill to work. $600,000....lol.

Just underwent a triple bypass a couple months back. Surgeon AND hospital bill were under $200k, contractually discounted to under $31k. You frequent Walter Reed or something?

Didn't say it was. Wasn't talking to you. I was responding to someone else. Didn't we just shut down a Canadian pipeline?

Been to Mexico lately? Ever hear of cartels?

Canada is attacking it's own citizens(electronically). Gonna force Canada and Mexico to send us oil? How long to get that pipeline up and running?

Our Govt. is doing everything it can to stop using oil.
The Irving Refinery in St. Johns NB, Canada supplies a majority of the US Eastern Coast supply by ships.
It accounts for 85% of their exports to the US.

I live along the coast and I know how to catch crabs, lobster and fish so I will always have food.

The first segments of society to run out of food will be the elderly and all those immigrants the send barrels of food back to their old country.

Do you need an air compressor or tire gauge

I take your comments as an admission on your part that Medicaid is going to have to step in and pay your medical bill. While at the same time you firmly back the efforts of your party to abolish it. Every year your party wants to severely restrict or eliminate altogether what it's about to do for you. I'm sure that you know that Medicaid is just another form of welfare. That's right. It's simply MEDICAL WELFARE. But, that perfectly ok in your mind's eye because YOU directly benefit from it. But oh boy, don't let somebody else benefit in a similar manner.
All this time you've been bashing the Democrats for the obvious reason that you and the others are afraid that you might not get your share of benefits. So don't blame that financially challenged hospital for having to measures that were you're responsibility to undertake on your own so they wouldn't have so .
