Oil companies get tax breaks no other company gets. They aren’t paying their fair share to society especially when we factor in the ecological harm they do. That provides the rest of us with fewer resources. Take from the poor to give to the wealthiest industry in human history, redistribution at its finest.I always thought subsides were a fancy way of saying tax deductions or write offs? many being for legitimate business expenses

Exploration and drilling by small firms is very expensive and risky. They get breaks to offset that. It's resulted in finding new sources and developing new technology to get at those sources. Has made us energy independent and greatly lowered fuel costs for average Americans. How anyone who runs a company that's totally dependent on fossil fuels can see that as a bad thing is beyond me, but you do you. There's absolutely no reason to not continue development of wind and solar power, or create electric vehicles that meet our needs. But until those technologies are viable alternatives that people can afford we have to have oil based energy. Why is that so hard for you?
