1) Yes we are in a recession.
2) We could have a super president in office that is the mix of the best parts of every good president (plus even the good parts of bad presidents) and we'd still be in a recession right now. The global economy got destroyed by COVID and the current economic downtown is pretty much unavoidable.

Ever hear of a soft landing? How severe a recession is depends very much on things like fuel and food costs. Policies that raise those costs directly correlate with a recession's impact.

Yes one Wendy’s and one police substation burnt in Minnesota plus one IRS/Forest Service office building in Portland vandalized (never entered) = massive and widespread destruction in all cities.
Your ignorance is exceeded only by your ignorance.

“However, arson, vandalism, and looting that occurred between May 26 and June 8 caused approximately $1–2 billion in damages nationally, the highest recorded damage from civil disorder in U.S. history, and surpassing the record set during the 1992 Los Angeles riots.” Wikipedia

Over 1200 cops injured, more than two dozen people killed. Saw an elderly black lady in one city crying as she was interviewed. Said all the stores in her neighborhood looted and burned. Said where were they supposed to go for groceries, etc.
