Reps. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.) and Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) threw their support behind Trump in February 2016, back when much of the GOP establishment was staying far away from the real estate mogul and long before it was clear that Trump was going to win the nomination.
But this month the scandals plaguing the two Trump backers caught up with them. On Aug. 8, the FBI arrested Collins, who was accused of insider trading, and on Tuesday, a grand jury indicted Hunter and his wife on charges of improperly using campaign funds.

Insider trading can be harmful. WOW! just saw he had withdrawn from the race.

Improper Use of Campaign Funds is not normally a big deal but who knows in this wacko political environment. I guess it depends on the severity.

They are National politicians however and that usually includes this level of stuff ... the key is to not get caught or make the wrong enemies.

Not exactly. If he had made the payments at the time of the affairs, no problem. He made them right before the election to deceive the public, and illegally influence the election.

Big problemo.

Nope. If he had made the payments himself, no problem. Cohen making them for him would appear to qualify them as illegal campaign contributions. That's an administrative fine, nothing more. If he had lied under oath about paying them that's a felony. But he hasn't.
