I hope you’re trolling. It’s beyond idiotic to believe the President should get his information from cable news. No one should get information from cable news.
Of course he gets daily briefings. But it's impossible to know everything about everything on a daily basis. South Africa probably wasn't on his radar until Carlson mentioned it. Does not mean he's as you categorized him. You'd probably be critical of the way he wipes his ass and think it's your right to know.

Good to know, but despite what @newfie and @vantexan think I don't normally take the Lord's name in vain. One of the cuss words my Dad would get irate over
Actually saying that word (God Damn) is not taking God's name in vain.
If you read the Ten Commandments the one about using God's name in vain:
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. KJV

This means using God's name (God or Jehovah) to swear against another person as in a modern day court of law.
Just as we swear on the Bible today in court or when being sworn into an office, this is what they did during Jewish times when the Old Testament was written (pre-500 BC approximately).
You would go before the Jewish clergy and one would begin and end their testimony by swearing their testimony was the truth in the name of God.
This was absolutely serious because the entire community's credibility was based on the rule of law ... like it use to be in the USA (questionable today). Perjury in the USA is a serious crime and the courts depend on everyone being truthful.

Blasphemy, another covered act, is the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to a deity, or sacred things, or toward something considered sacred or inviolable.
Some religions consider blasphemy to be a religious crime. As of 2012, anti-blasphemy laws existed in 32 countries, while 87 nations had hate speech laws that covered defamation of religion and public expression of hate against a religious group. Anti-blasphemy laws are particularly common in Muslim-majority nations, such as those in the Middle East and North Africa, although they are also present in some Asian and European countries.

Scholars believe the original intent was to prohibit using the name in the magical practice of conjuration.

Extending the meaning to include things like we use GD was added by society and clergy later on.

However, you and your father can define the meaning however you want as long as you don't try to apply it to me.

Election Law Violations Compared: Obama 2008 vs. Trump 2016

“There are always reporting violations in campaigns. Many of them minor, many of them substantive,” Ravel told us. “But in this case … what was admitted to by Cohen was that there was a clear intent to use campaign money for the purpose of keeping the individuals quiet right before the election for campaign purposes.”

One defense against such charges, articulated by President Trump on Twitter the following morning, was that Barack Obama also committed campaign finance violations that were just as bad in 2008, but he was let off much easier.

Michael Cohen plead guilty to two counts of campaign finance violations that are not a crime. President Obama had a big campaign finance violation and it was easily settled!

In this tweet, President Trump attempted to compare the criminal charges brought against Cohen by the U.S. Justice Department with a series of civil violations brought against the Obama campaign by the Federal Election Commission (FEC), a separate, independent body which cannot prosecute criminal cases.

While it is true that President Obama’s 2008 campaign was fined a significant amount of money by the FEC, those fines covered civil violations that were different than the criminal infractions admitted to by Cohen.

there is quite a bit of debate about whether cohen actually committed campaign violations. The NY AG threw them in the plea deal to embarrass the president. Cohen would have plead to murder if it got him a reduced sentence.

The only reason there is debate is because the president is trying to muddy the water.

on CNN or MSNBC you are right. in the real world you are wrong. Even a Al Green who has promoted impeaching Trump from day one is having a hard time saying Trump has done anything wrong here. Saw him on CNN this morning and the hardest push he had on this was to encourage congress to investigate these allegations.
