Purposeful tension

Is their any reason upper management would want (go out of their way) to ensure tension between hourlies and salaried?

Question stems from an understanding that corporate beings want high productivity despite short sighted tactics.

Yeah. And I get it. But that's such an old school way of thinking.

Only way to change is to talk about it.

Change from talk? Change comes from actions. Words can help, but they do no more than that and can actually work against whatever your desired outcome is.

Mostly, upper management is very insulated from the ground level perspectives. Reality for them is found in the numbers on a report, not totally useless, but not very in touch with the realities of true customer service and safety.
Operational management just gets stuck in between an organized labor force below and a narcistic bunch of corporate ladder climbers above. A serious pressure cooker position to be in. Try to cover your butt where you can and take nothing stupid personally. It really isn't about you. It's about money and unfortunately, to an extent, it has to be.

It still does unless you're one of those obnoxious twitter people. It is not a hash tag--it's a pound sign.

This is a hash tag:
