This is because, without any awareness of bias, crimes by white men are explained not by race or gender but by the unique pathology of the specific person whose race, being white, is therefore deemed irrelevant. Adam Lanza or James Holmes are treated as aberrant individuals whose criminal personalities drove them to commit their crimes, but nobody refers to them as examples of the inherent failure of male culture or as proof of the social breakdown of the white family and the white community. The crimes of a James Holmes, or a Jerry Sandusky, or a Timothy McVeigh, or a Ted Bundy are never attributed to some inherent defect in white culture or a failure of white people to police their own, yet their crimes are no less representative of “whiteness” than a Chicago African-American youth’s drive-by-shooting is representative of “blackness”.

For the first time, I agree with you. In 8 years, the BUSH administration IGNORED the VA system, and passed along a broken entity that needed a complete rebuild with less funding.
Today, there is nothing new at the VA that wasnt happening for the last 10 years.

Without more data those numbers are basically meaningless. For instance what were the degrees in? That is by far the most important statistic which was completely omitted. Also there could be many other reasons to explain any disparity instead of automatically assuming it is a racist issue. As well as explaining the methodology of the study which was also conveniently omitted.

Democratic Nassau County, NY Legislator Ellen Birnbaum has caught heat from fellow lawmakers after she allegedly said, "This is a bad neighborhood because African-Americans live there. Very few people would want to go there.” Those remarks were in reference to an area near the Yes We Can Community Center in New Cassel, NY .
Birnbaum has also been kicked out of her party’s caucus and lost her committee assignments.
Birnbaum said she “would welcome the chance to rebuild and regain the trust I have lost in people.”
