Repercussions for crossing a picket line?

Stick to "cleaning" under your boss's desk.

Investors are not willing to give up billions now, for the slight possibility of a stock rally sometime in the distant future if the Union was to break.

ORION still does not work. Nobody wants to work, especially physical labor. Truck driver shortage.

Carol will not try and break the Union now. Too much to lose. The Union is not asking for anything outrageous. Anything that UPS cannot afford and still be a $100B Company, making $5B per year.

Now, next contract, or the one after that? Who knows.
So what is the harm in asking a financial advisor or a stock broker the question?

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
I know because I'm in management you won't believe what I say. However, if you have a financial advisor ask them this question. What would the long term prospect of UPS stock be, if there was a teamster strike, and UPS broke the union?

I'm sure they will say long term the investors will rally and increase the stock price. Most of the time, the stock price isn't about the present, it's about the future.
Break the Union….🤣

So fund managers are going to loose money?

Too much speculation. Many who are going negative don’t seem to understand the process.

What, exactly, do you mean when discussing the plausibility of breaking the union?

More importantly, how do you think something like that can happen?

Exactly what I meant. UPS would bring back drivers and insiders who crossed and hire additional people as permanent employees and not hire back or recognize the teamster union. In short, UPS employees would no longer be union employees. We would have drivers just like FDX Air has drivers that are not represented by a union.

That's not how that works. I see how it seems that simple, but there's far more to it than that. You should take the time to look up really what it takes to get rid of a Union.

How many people can last a prolonged strike? Very few. People will cross, and all those other drivers that make 1/2 what a UPS driver makes will come to work for UPS. I'll be sitting laughing when people who made over 40/hr with great benefits strikes and becomes unemployed and can't find another job making anywhere near the salary as they were. Enjoy your fantasy.

My little youngin time during the summer of 97 is nil comparatively.
Yep I was just a young pup in 1997 on the strikeline. The overnight strike I was just a volunteer regularly. Following the trucks and picketing them was an interesting adventure and it was pretty ugly quite a few times on the strikeline.

There were a few fights. Warwick cops had to come and escort the management driving the trucks out of the UPS lot.

Lol. We followed a tinted white van transporting scabs to different hubs. They were good at hiding them.

UPS is not ready to burn down a $166B company just to get rid of the Union. At least, not at this time.

They are making record profits and the Union is not asking for anything outrageous. I'm not saying that there will never be a time when UPS tries, but it ain't today.
