Nope. For some, there is no deterrent strong enough. For most (especially opiates) it has been my observation that most will never stay clean. And if they do succeed and go on to live a life of sobriety, are never truly happy or content ever again.

It is not unusual for an addict dying of an opiate overdose to assault the person who saves his life.

Because by waking him up with the narcan, it interrupts and ruins the high.
