Russia isn't losing. They are retreating at any resistance, surrounding the cities in question, and moving on. This keeps body count low.

And they aren't like dumb Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan. They don't destroy infrastructure that they then have to rebuild. They're not trying to police and Occupy.

They are there to leave everything intact, and put a more friendly government in. That's it. They have their eye on the ball.

Russia has total air superiority and could win any ground they want. But they actually think more than one move ahead.

Let me break down your observations:

A. Russian soldiers are not retreating, in fact they are on the borders of most of the Ukraine cities. Body counts will never be released till this War is over if ever, how do you know they are low? Of course they are not losing last time I checked they are a superpower with a far larger army.

B. There is no such thing as infrastructure in Afghanistan before the Americans arrived. Iraq were begging to be “Desert Stormed”, remember Kuwait. Saddam had it coming..

C. Define “more friendly government “ ?

D. Granted Russia has not unleashed their air forces, maybe they are worried about Ukrainian Air Defenses or do not want to mistakenly kill innocent civilians by an errant missile. We will find out in a few days once the ground troops enter these major cities.

They are taking the most efficient and safest route to their goals.

C. More friendly means simply a government that will not be involved with the EU or Nato.
