We didn't overthrow the Ukrainian government. Ukrainians did. Forced out a Putin puppet. And we didn't put NATO bases in Ukraine nor did we try to. And the Eastern European countries all joined NATO because they feared Russia. And Putin just demonstrated that they had reason to fear Russia.

By the way the Chinese are looking to build a new canal in Nicaragua. And have just struck a trade deal with Argentina. The Chinese get ahead by building infrastructure in these countries, not install strong men who abuse their own people but get away with it because they're keeping out communism at our behest. If you treat people badly they revolt. Exactly why the Soviet Union fell apart. Exactly why Warsaw Pact countries turned to NATO. Exactly why socialism is gaining traction and has been for some time in the Americas. Whether it's humping 70-80 hrs a week in the States or having strong men hog all the wealth in Latin America people start listening to the Bernie Sanders of the world who tell them everyone can have a decent job and prosperity if they get rid of capitalism. Those former Soviet republics and Eastern European countries vehemently disagree so they are labeled fascists and Nazis in places like Poland and Hungary by the socialist crowd. At the end of the day don't discount the morons who get power and think they know better and end up mucking things up. Just like our past leaders who installed mean SOB's to control their populations in Central America. You can't fix stupid, only clean up the aftermath.

Some people are upset because they are losing money in the Ukraine. That is another issue and couldn't happen to nicer people but doesn't justify the Russian aggression.

All of that is also true.

Russia is retaking part of Russia, which is no reason for anyone to be upset. A substantial portion of Ukrainians don't even mind the takeover.

30% of Ukrainians are native Russian speakers, and most of them are in the eastern half of the country. Most of them are more loyal to Russia.

Ukraine is basically the only former soviet republic that is worse off since the breakdown of the USSR, because it is so irredeemably corrupt. Even the non-Russians in Ukraine are largely indifferent to losing "their" country.

The government you are calling theirs is the one we used to overthrow their former government.
