Seasonal Covered Under New Contract?

I think it’s set by the local. When I worked as a seasonal driver it was about $500 a month. And I received zero benefits under the contract. Robbery.
$500 a month? No, just 2 1/2 times hourly rate. Plus the assessment.. Monthly. Maybe some locals charge seasonals an initiation fee, but I would think most would waive it.

No one pays $500/mo for union dues. There may be an initiation fee, often times waived for seasonal workers, but the union dues would be about $58/mo, or $11.50/wk.
I worked for 4 weeks in 2024 as a seasonal support driver. I had $50 deducted from each of my checks for union dues. The last week that I worked, I only had about 10 hours, so that is $5/hour going to the Union. That is robbery!

I read an article about UPS and FedEx hiring seasonals. It said UPS seasonal employees are covered by the new contract. Just what’s covered for them? Do they also need to pay union dues?
Where I am all seasonal employees pay union dues, even PVD’s. That’s the trade off, the union allows all these temps but they’re going to make money off it.

It’s the definition of robbery. You weren’t covered at all by the contract. No wonder unions are having a tough time.

If I remember it was something that happened locally.

Make sure you get a withdrawal card from the local, that way the money you paid is credited, and you won't have to pay full initiation, again.
