Storming the Capitol

DriveInDriveOut

Inordinately Right
Hearings are not investigations.
There was a bipartisan investigation.
That investigation resulted in a 95 page report.

Again I'll ask you, how many investigations do you want?

A bipartisan Senate investigation of the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection found security and intelligence failures at every level of government that led to the breach of the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob as lawmakers in a joint session were certifying the 2020 election.

The 95-page report, a product of a roughly five-month, joint probe by the Senate Homeland Security and Rules Committees, found significant breakdowns ranging "from federal intelligence agencies failing to warn of a potential for violence to a lack of planning and preparation by (U.S. Capitol Police) and law enforcement leadership." There was no overall operational or staffing plan for that fateful day, a total failure of leadership, according to the committees.

The Driver

“The scope of the report is exceedingly narrow -- primarily focusing on what happened on the day of the attacks -- not the root cause of that violent day, a delicate topic for some Republicans who have sought to avoid addressing any role that former President Donald Trump may have played in inciting the attack.”

I want a full investigation. This Senate “investigation” isn’t the full deal.

Their report stated this was an attack on democracy. At least they got that right.

Fox News' lawyers said in court that no reasonable viewer would believe the statements Carlson makes.
And they said it because a precedent had been set with I believe Rachel Maddow at MSNBC. So they used the same strategy to thwart a frivolous lawsuit. Libs were perturbed because they thought they had a chance to hurt Carlson but now they're bringing up what was said without mentioning the legal precedent previously set by their very own. Luckily millions are watching Carlson show what's being said around the country by liberals pushing various things like CRT. He's not going away any time soon and no one is more effective at exposing the liberal agenda.

"The context of Maddow's statement shows reasonable viewers would consider the contested statement to be opinion."

US District Judge Cynthia Bashant

That's a lot different than;

"The "'general tenor' of the show should then inform a viewer that [Carlson] is not 'stating actual facts' about the topics he discusses and is instead engaging in 'exaggeration' and 'non-literal commentary.' "

"Fox persuasively argues, that given Mr. Carlson's reputation, any reasonable viewer 'arrive with an appropriate amount of skepticism' about the statement he makes."

Vyskocil, an appointee of President Trump's, added, "Whether the Court frames Mr. Carlson's statements as 'exaggeration,' 'non-literal commentary,' or simply bloviating for his audience, the conclusion remains the same — the statements are not actionable."

Precedent set by Maddow, then used by Carlson's legal team. Nah nuh nah nah, nah nuh nah nah, hey hey hey, goodbye.

Similar "false flag" claims have been made by far-right InfoWars host Alex Jones. And he was sued.
Except actual government documents have been turned up showing the FBI had undercover operatives participating. Why haven't they released thousands of hours of video footage from the 6th? You think that wasn't run by FOX legal before saying it?

And speaking specifically to the above, another outfit turned up documents that showed undercover FBI agents were among the people who stormed the Capitol. Carlson just passed it along.
If FBI agents were in the crowd it would be to spy on them, not to goad them on. But that would be a convenient excuse for the Right since what happened is a huge embarrassment for donald and the gop.

Sure it's an embarrassment, and it will be a huge scandal if the government had agents involved in the planning stages who knew what was coming yet the government did nothing to stop it, knowing what it could do to Trump. They also found documents showing that two of the men involved in the planned kidnapping of Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer were FBI operatives.
