We had a preload manager try and tell a feeder driver with some late loads that he better start making his pull times at whatever hub he was coming from. We all had a good laugh about that one.

Back in the 80’s the Tuesday after Thanksgiving the division manager was waiting to tell me the preload was almost out of work. That night started out with 50 degrees and high winds. Trees and power lines down caused a few delays just getting to the hub. The snow started and PennDot wasn’t out. The 100 mile trip took 3 hours. I had another pup for another center 50 miles away, I told him that Center will definitely not have work since I had the #1 preload box. He had a cigarette in both hands before I headed north. Good times! I think he took an early retirement after that peak.
